At Arya Animal Acupuncture, mentoring aspiring vets and technicians is woven into our daily practice. We offer a dynamic externship and job shadow program to provide immersive learning for veterinary students at all levels. Seeing their passion and dedication inspires and rejuvenates our team.

Clinical Rotations Tailored to Vet Students' Needs

Participating integrative veterinary students can apply for a clinical rotation matched to their interests and goals. Rotations are supervised by an experienced integrative veterinarian mentor. Under their guidance, veterinary interns and externs actively participate in real appointments and gain firsthand experience providing integrative care. Externs learn all critical technician skills, surgical monitoring skills, phlebotomy, the basics of integrative medicine and so much more! We encourage veterinary technicians from accredited programs to visit us for their shadow days as well as externship hours. They gain perspective into running day-to-day operations of an efficient, high-quality private integrative practice.

We support each student's growth in their veterinary education. Students interested in surgery and animal dentistry receive shadowing opportunities in our clinic surgery. Those focused on clinical pathology or diagnostics collaborate directly with our onsite laboratory. Others gain a deeper knowledge of our integrative therapies like acupuncture, chiropractic, laser therapy, and Chinese and Ayurveda herbal medicine. Clinical rotations build practical clinical skills and expose students to areas of interest.

Externships for Budding Vet Techs

We also open our doors to vet technician students for immersive clinical externships. Under the guidance of our experienced licensed veterinary technicians, externs gain firsthand experience in anesthesia, surgical assisting, lab work, imaging, and patient care. We ensure students refine the technical skills needed to excel in this vital role on the animal healthcare team.

Job Shadowing for Future Vets 

For aspiring vets, job shadowing offers exposure to the career. Students observe Dr. Bhatt and our veterinary technicians for 2-3 hours as they examine patients, discuss cases, and interact with clients. It's an invaluable opportunity to understand the day-to-day life of a veterinarian before embarking on the long road of integrative veterinary education.
